Fruit Salad

There’s no other dessert that is as refreshing as the fruit salad. I remember, when I was a child, we only have fruit salad once there are guests that are coming into our house for lunch – Easter lunch, birthdays or any other occasions – and we got it as a confectionary course after the heavy meal were eaten and out of the table.

Back in the days even until now, I am always amazed by the idea of mixing fresh fruit and canned fruit blended with a raw cream or pure whipped cream to create the salad. I always and will always love it. However, today, where my sweet tooth cannot completely outright my knowledge of fat and sugar, I’m actually more excited about a version that highlights the freshness of the fruit and natural sweetness rather than overthrowing it with sweet cream.

Hence, my version of fruit salad takes more into account the natural sweetness of the mixed fruit rather than bombarded it with cream. I also think that it is healthier and tasty in that way. Also, you can served the fruit salad with other accessories like maybe a cup of hot chocolate.

Servings: 4 persons max

  • 1½ dl whipped cream
  • 1 dl of yogurt natural
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla sugar
  • 400 g of fruits and berries – preferably fresh – eg. orange, pineapple, apple, grape, pear, melon, banana, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, kiwi, and mango or … Yes, the possibilities are many. Choose a 4-5 piece.

Here’s how you make Fruit Salad

  1. Whip the cream into a light foam and turn yogurt, sugar and vanilla sugar into it.
  2. Rinse the fruit, remove if necessary hulls, peel, seeds etc., and cut the fruit into suitable sizes/ bites.
  3. Put in a few spoonful of cream and bring the fruits together.

You can also put the whole salad into the table in small bowls. In this way you can both cater those with dairy allergies – they can eat the fruit without cream – and picky mouths that they can choose exactly the kind of fruit they want and go beyond those they do not like.

If you want chocolate pieces, it can be turned into the cream.
