Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups macapuno preserves
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 small can condensed milk 168 ml
  • Skimmed milk for coating

Instructions

  • Start by preparing your macapuno preserves. Using a fine-mesh sieve or colander, drain the macapuno preserve. Then, pour about 2 cups of water over it to remove some of the heavy syrup. This step ensures the right consistency for your Macapuno Balls.
  • In a saucepan, combine the cornstarch and water. Make sure to dissolve the cornstarch by whisking and mixing well. Once that's nicely combined, add the condensed milk and your prepared macapuno to the mixture.
  • Cook this delicious concoction over medium-low heat and stir until the mixture thickens. Keep stirring regularly until the mixture separates from the pan and forms a sticky, dough-like texture. When it reaches this stage, remove it from the heat and let it cool down.
  • Once the mixture has fully cooled down, lightly oil your hands to prevent the dough from sticking. Then, scoop about a tablespoon of the dough and roll it into delightful little balls. This is where the magic happens!
  • Now, for the finishing touch, you'll need some powdered skim milk. On a separate plate, place your powdered skim milk. Roll each of your dough balls in the powdered milk until they're fully coated. This step adds an extra layer of flavor and texture.
  • Lastly, wrap each Macapuno Ball individually in colored cellophane to make them look as delightful as they taste. Alternatively, you can pack them in small containers or bags if you prefer.
